レッド・ツェッペリン愛は他のTシャツで散々に語ってきていますが、それは完璧と言いきれる程の音楽性、ヴィジュアル性が自分のツボで、かつアートワークまでもが夢中にさせているのも重なって、最もリスペクトするべき存在へと昇華していったことに他なりません。
レッド・ツェッペリンとの出会いは音楽からでしたが、当時ある程度のドラミングができるようになってからは、大してドラムに深掘りもせずに、耳コピできることや譜面をなぞれることに満足していました。
そんな中、ジョン・ボーナムのドラミングにその伸びに伸びた自分の鼻をいとも簡単にへし折られたのです。
いくら耳コピしてもボンゾのようには叩けず、譜面を見たところで全く通用せず、鼻をへし折られるどころか、挫折に近い感情を味わったことを今でも覚えています。
芯が強いタイプでもないので、ほんの些細な事で心が折られ、どうせ俺なんて、、みたいに悲観に走った時期もありました。
何事もそうですが、太刀打ちできそうもない壁に直面した時に自分の真価が問われるというか、ふるいにかけられている状態で、そこで何クソとやるのか、スパっと見切りをつけて別の道を模索するのかという選択に迫られます。
この時、どちらを選択しても誰も何も言わないですが、確かであることは、後悔の残る選択をしてはならないということです。
後悔先に立たずで、やらないで悔いを残すようならやってから後悔せよ、というのはいつの時代にも言える普遍的な事象です。
そんな自分も、買い逃して後悔しているアイテムの亡霊が未だに消えずに追い求めています。
I’ve talked about my love for Led Zeppelin a lot on other T-shirts, but it was the combination of their perfect musicianship, visuals, and even their artwork that got me hooked, and elevated them to an existence that I should respect the most.
My first encounter with Led Zeppelin was through their music, but after I was able to drum to a certain extent at the time, I didn’t delve too deeply into drumming and was content with being able to play by ear and trace music sheets.
Then, John Bonham’s drumming easily broke my overgrown nose.
No matter how much I tried to copy and copy by ear, I could not play like Bonzo.
I’m not a strong person, so there were times when my heart would break at the slightest thing, and I would become pessimistic, thinking, “What am I going to do anyway?
As with anything, when you are faced with a wall that you can’t seem to compete with, your true worth is tested, or rather, you are being sifted through, and you are forced to choose whether to do whatever it takes or to give up and find another way.
