1976年発表の「Lady in waiting」からのデザイン。
初見は70年代のデザインと思えないほどセンセーショナルな衝撃を受け、自分の中の70年代に対する偏見が一蹴されました。
よく考えれば反戦争運動からサイケデリック文化はすでに生まれていたことなので、この時点で前衛的なアートがあっても何ら不思議ではありません。
近年よく考えることは、単に誰かが残した作品を楽しむだけではなく、その作品が生まれた背景や、作者のルーツまで辿ろうとしているということです。
個人的には、もはや物質的な欲求は満たされていて、世に出たものを楽しむとか、こんなのあればいいなとか想像する機会も減ってきました。
ただ、そうなると今後の人生が味気なくなってしまうから、自然と探究、勉強、修行と言った方向に目が向きます。
そのような探求や勉強、修行という行為を踏まえて残された人生をどう楽しむかということが今後の自分の命題であることは間違いありません。
This is a design from “Lady in waiting” released in 1976.
The first time I saw it, I was so sensationally shocked that I couldn’t believe it was a design from the 70s, and my prejudice against the 70s was kicked out of my mind.
If you think about it, psychedelic culture was already born out of the anti-war movement, so it’s no surprise that there was avant-garde art at this point.
What I often think about in recent years is that people are not only enjoying the works that someone left behind, but also trying to trace the background of the work and the roots of the artist.
Personally, my material needs are no longer satisfied, and I have less and less opportunity to enjoy the things that have come into the world, or to imagine what it would be like to have such things.
However, since that would make the rest of my life tasteless, I naturally turn my attention towards exploration, study, and practice.
The question of how to enjoy the rest of my life in the light of such pursuits, studies, and practices is definitely an issue for me in the future.
