ヴィンテージTシャツを収集していなければ絶対出会わなかってであろうグループの一つがこのプレジャー。
ソウル、ファンクといったジャンルに分類されるグループで、1976年発表の「ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES」という作品からのデザインです。
ソウル系のヴィンテージTシャツのコレクターが幾つかレアピースを出品していたので、幸運にもまとめて仕入れられた時期でした。
冒頭で述べた通り、ヴィンテージTシャツを探求していなければ出会わなかった運命の一枚で、同時に想像の変革をもたらした存在。
このデザインが1976年には存在していた事実は、自分が想像していた1970年代の領域がいかに浅く、狭い視野であったかということを思い知らされ、同時に世界が拡張していったのです。
One of the groups that I would never have come across if I hadn’t been collecting vintage t-shirts is Pleasure.
This is a design from their 1976 album “Accept No Substitutes”, which is classified as Soul or Funk genre.
A collector of vintage soul t-shirts was selling some rare pieces, so I was fortunate to be able to buy them all at once.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, this is a piece of destiny that I would not have come across if I had not explored vintage T-shirts, and at the same time, it was a revolution in my imagination.
The fact that this design existed in 1976 reminded me of how shallow and narrow my imagination of the 1970s was, and at the same time expanded my world.
