ドリーム・シンジケートはLAのオルタナバンドで80年代に活動していた後、解散。
その後2012年から再活動し、今に至っています。
自分自身のドリーム・シンジケートとの出会いはこの一枚から。
その出会いはまるで一目惚れをした時のような淡く優しい衝動で、「あ、出逢っちゃったな。」という、心に一筋の風が吹き抜けるようなものがありました。
数多のTシャツを見てきたのに、そして最も興味の強いヴィンテージミュージックTに精通している自負があるのに、それでも全く知らなかったドリーム・シンジケートの存在自体に、ある意味嫉妬すら混じっていた感情もあったかもしれません。
ここまでの想いを抱えてしまっては、もはや購入以外の選択肢は無かったですね。
時には利益度外視で、どうしてもお店に並べたいがために購入する機会も少なくありません。
その時、何を考えていて、想像しているかと言うと、並べた後のストーリーです。
このTシャツをどのように紹介して、お客様とどのような交流をしていくのか、とか、どのように展開して売り場を盛り上げるのか、とか、全ての期待値を高めるための投資に近いものがあるかもしれません。
ただ、それは目先の利益というより、長期的なお店の形成を目的としたものであり、目先の利益以上の価値がそこにはあると考えていて、目先の利益×長期投資のハイブリッドな構成がきっと素敵な形を創り上げるものだと信じています。
Dream Syndicate is an alternative band from LA that was active in the 80s and then broke up.
The band has been active again since 2012 and is still going strong.
My own first encounter with Dream Syndicate was through this one album.
It was a faint and gentle impulse, like love at first sight, that made me think, “Oh, I’ve met you. It was like a ray of wind blowing through my heart.
I’ve seen a lot of t-shirts, and I pride myself on being familiar with vintage music t-shirts, which I’m most interested in, but I still didn’t know about Dream Syndicate.
Once I was in such a state of mind, I had no choice but to buy.
There are not a few occasions when I have to buy a product just to put it on display in a store, sometimes with no regard for profit.
At that time, what they are thinking and imagining is the story of the product after it is displayed.
However, it is not about immediate profit but about the long-term formation of the store, and I believe that there is more value there than immediate profit, and that the hybrid composition of immediate profit and long-term investment will surely create a wonderful form.
