ベイ・シティ・ローラーズ初見の感想は「ジャニーズ」。
隠し切れないアイドル臭が日本人である自分自身にそう思わせるのでした。
そして、ローラーですぐ連想されるのは光Genji。
世代的には少し上の世代ですが、幼少期の頃の記憶でテレビで見ない日は無かったですし、「小学校1年生」という雑誌でも表紙を飾っていた記憶まで残っているなど、とにかく洗脳に近いほどの人気を誇っていたと記憶しています。
で、肝心のベイ・シティ・ローラーズは特にローラーは履いているわけではないという。
また、光Genjiの誕生秘話にベイ・シティ・ローラーズが絡んでるのかも、、と期待を寄せるも残念ながらそのような痕跡は辿れず。
しかしながら当時のジャニーさんがベイ・シティ・ローラーズに何かしらのインスピレーションを受けて光Genjiが誕生したと信じたいと思うところです。
初見にも関わらず何故か懐かしさを覚えてしまうデジャヴのような感覚を不思議に思うと共に、振り替えると当時強烈なインパクトを与えていた存在が居たことを思い出させるのでした。
それはB’zを聴いた時にエアロスミスじゃね？と思ってしまうように。
もしくはエアロスミスを聴いた時にB’zじゃね？と思ってしまうように。
My first impression of the Bay City Rollers was that they were “Japanese”.
The unconcealed smell of idols made me, a Japanese, think so.
And the name “Rollers” immediately reminded me of Genji Hikaru.
I’m a little older than you in terms of generation, but I remember from my childhood that there wasn’t a day that I didn’t see him on TV, and I even remember that he was on the cover of “Shogakko Ichinen” magazine, so I remember that he was so popular that it was almost like brainwashing.
So, the important thing to remember is that the Bay City Rollers don’t particularly wear rollers.
Also, I was hoping that the Bay City Rollers might be involved in the secret story of the birth of Hikari Genji, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find any trace of it.
However, I’d like to believe that Mr. Janie was inspired by the Bay City Rollers and that’s how Hikari Genji was born.
I wondered why I felt a sense of déjà vu and nostalgia even though I had never seen them before.
It’s like when you hear B’z and you think, “Isn’t that Aerosmith? It’s like when you hear B’z, you think, “Isn’t that Aerosmith?
It’s like when you hear B’z, you think “Aerosmith”, or when you hear Aerosmith, you think “B’z”. Or when you hear Aerosmith, you think B’z.
